Label says size 18 which would translate as size 14-16 now. Our model is size 14-16 and you can see there is some room in this fit, so a possibility if you’re leaning towards the higher end. Own a piece of Lanvin heritage with this practically perfect piece with classic horse-bit design.

There is no indication of fabric provenance, but we believe this to be cotton/mix. Machine wash delicate cycle. We recommend a hand wash in a Guppy bag for longevity.

Very interesting that this also indicates that it is UNION MADE in the USA with a series number….

‘We work to promote the union label. When you see a union label — whether it is on a product, on a union shop or union store placard in a place of business, or on a union button worn by a worker – it signifies quality goods and services.

Moreover, these emblems demonstrate that the employees who make the product or provide the service are skilled workers who are treated fairly and decently by their employers.’

Lanvin, a brief history…

Jeanne Lanvin (1867-1946 opened a millinery shop in Paris in 1890.  Lanvin opened her dressmaking business in 1909 after making beautiful dresses for her daughter. She was most famous for her Robes de Style dresses which featured a small waist and full skirt, developing this style by 1915.

When Lanvin died in 1946, her daughter took over the business later hiring Antonio del Castillo in 1950.  During this time the house became known as Lanvin-Castillo.

In 1962 Castillo left, replaced by Jules-Francois Crahay who was head designer from 1963-1984.  Lanvin of the late 60’s and early 70’s produced some spectacular pieces.  Under the direction of Jules Francois-Crahay & Bernard Devaux, Lanvin was a playground for pattern.  Bright colours, stripes and some incredible geometric patterns cover everything from this era.  The simplicity of the garments make them classic timeless pieces. Wearability is key here.

This was followed by a succession of designers including Hervé Leger & Claude Montana, until Alber Elbaz became chief designer at Lanvin in 2001-2015.

Alber Elbaz announced in October 2019 that he is involved in a joint venture and partnership with Richemont, “AZfashion” (AlberelbaZfashion), ‘an innovative and dynamic start-up, meant to turn dreams into reality.’
